1995 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-001

Description

Holding the primary doubled die reverse position for the famous 1995-P Lincoln Memorial Cent, DDR-001 exhibits strong spread rotated slightly clockwise, manifesting as an extra ceiling line within bay number 7 of the Lincoln Memorial. Die markers UVC-3065 and DMR-005 confirm this working die. Frank Gasparro's Lincoln Memorial reverse depicts the building with twelve columns that define a series of numbered bays, and bay 7 falls to the right of the central interior where the seated Lincoln statue is visible. The strong spread classification places this variety at the upper end of doubling intensity — the extra ceiling line is clearly visible without requiring high magnification, appearing as a distinct secondary architectural line within the specified bay. The slight clockwise rotation of the hub impression shifted the secondary ceiling image upward and to the right of its primary position. The 1995-P cent is one of the most celebrated dates in modern Lincoln cent variety collecting, primarily because of the spectacular DDO-001 that shows dramatic obverse doubling on LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. DDR-001, while less famous than the obverse counterpart, represents the most significant reverse variety for the date and carries its own collector following. Struck in copper-plated zinc composition (97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper plating) at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin weighs 2.5 grams. The extra ceiling line in bay 7 is the primary pickup point for attribution.
