Description

Targeting the 7th Memorial column rather than the 6th, Wexler WDDR-017 on the 1994 Philadelphia Lincoln cent — submitted by Brian Ribar — displays slight doubling on the left side of that column, to the right of the statue's left shoulder. A notable reverse die marker accompanies the doubling: a large die dent extending NNW from the top of the Memorial just to the right of the M in UNUM, creating a prominent identifying feature. On the obverse, a small die gouge appears on the lower front of the bust. Additional obverse die markers include die scratches extending north from the top of the second T in TRUST. These markers, particularly the large reverse die dent near UNUM, provide reliable attribution points for distinguishing this variety from the other minor DDR entries in the 1994-P series. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID 1994 1¢ WDDR-017.
