Description

One of the strongest doubled die reverses in the 1994 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent series, DDR-001 displays very strong spread with extra columns in the lower portion of bays 2, 3, 4, and 10, with almost a full extra column visible in bay 11. This dramatic doubling across multiple Memorial bays is the hallmark of a Class IV offset hub doubled die, where the hub was laterally displaced between impressions, shifting the entire reverse design and creating ghost columns alongside the originals. Cross-referenced as FS-801 — Cherrypickers Guide listing number 039.9 — this variety is also independently cataloged by VarietyVista with die marker references UVC-2436 and DMR-002. The FS-801 designation from the Cherrypickers Guide confirms its status as a recognized variety with strong collector demand. This variety is likely the same doubled die cataloged as Wexler WDDR-002, which also references FS-01-1994-801 (039.9) and describes a Class IV offset hub spread producing extra columns in the Memorial bays, representing a cross-catalog overlap where two reference systems independently documented the same die.
