Description
Produced at the Denver Mint, the 1994 (D) World Cup Dollar is part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The U.S. Mint produced 81,698 examples, making this the scarcer of two mint variants, with 12% of total production. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue, authorized by Congress to honor significant American events, people, and institutions and the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. Struck after the transition from silver to clad coinage, as the Mint adapted to modern production methods and record-breaking mintages. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Auction record: $1,083 MS70 09-11-2022 eBay.
