Description

The 1993 (S) Proof Madison Dollar is a proof commemorative dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint. Total mintage reached 534,001. Authorized to commemorate the bicentennial of the Bill of Rights, ratified in 1791, this dollar was part of a three-coin program honoring James Madison as the principal author of the first ten amendments. The obverse features a portrait bust of James Madison facing left, while the reverse displays Montpelier, Madison's Virginia estate, with 'E Pluribus Unum' above. Designed by William Krawczewics/Dean McMullen. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9671. The Bill of Rights dollar commemorates one of America's most important founding documents and its chief architect, making it a natural companion to the Constitution commemorative series.
