Description
The 1990 (P) Proof Eisenhower Dollar is a proof commemorative dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Total mintage reached 1.1 million. Authorized to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Dwight D. The obverse features dual overlapping portraits of Dwight D. Eisenhower — a larger portrait facing left as a five-star general in World War II uniform, and a smaller portrait facing right as President in a suit, while the reverse displays Eisenhower's retirement home at the Gettysburg National Historic Site in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Designed by John M. Mercanti/Marcel Jovini. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9639. The Eisenhower dollar's dual-portrait concept makes it one of the most creative designs in the modern commemorative series, capturing both Ike's military and political careers on a single coin.
