Description
The 1978 Jefferson Nickel is a nickel minted at the Philadelphia Mint, within the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. The U.S. Mint produced 391.3 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 56% of production. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing left and the reverse displays Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate. Both mints active with typical production levels. Coined at the Philadelphia facility, the nation's original mint that has operated continuously since its 1792 founding. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $4 depending on grade and condition.
