Description
Produced at the Denver Mint, the 1974 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Aluminum is part of the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial building in Washington, D.C. Congress rejected the aluminum cent proposal. Massive production runs continued with rising copper prices threatening the bronze composition. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906.
