Description
Part of the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series, the 1971 (S) Lincoln Memorial Cent is a cent from the San Francisco Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 528.4 million examples, making this the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial building in Washington, D.C. The 1971 Doubled Die Obverse is a significant variety. San Francisco produced both proofs and business strikes this year. The San Francisco Mint, a Gold Rush-era institution, now specializes in proof and collector coinage.
