Description

Seven doubled die reverses cataloged for the 1970-S Jefferson Nickel demonstrate the breadth of die variety research applied to San Francisco Mint issues from this pivotal year, when the S mintmark returned to coinage after a three-year absence. DDR-007 exhibits light spread on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA that increases from left to right — a gradational pattern consistent with a slight rotational hub misalignment where one side of the die received greater displacement than the other during the hubbing process.
