1964-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-010

Description

Bearing the Wexler Team designation WDDR-010 (Wexler Variety ID: 1964-D 1¢ WDDR-010, no additional cross-references known), this doubled die reverse variety exhibits a spread on UNI in UNITED, the left and right sides of the Memorial, the designer's initials FG, and ONE CENT — a broad distribution of doubling that reflects a hub displacement affecting multiple design zones of the Gasparro reverse. The die markers cataloged for this variety are notably extensive on the reverse: a vertical die gouge to the right of the lower N in UNITED, a vertical die gouge over the R in AMERICA, a very strong die gouge over the E in ONE, a dot-like die gouge to the right of the middle of the N in CENT, and a strong die gouge between the lower N and I in UNITED.
