Displaying a dual-intensity doubling pattern, DDR-002 on the 1962-D Jefferson Nickel presents medium spread on OF AMERICA alongside light spread on UNUM — the final word of E PLURIBUS UNUM. Die markers UVC-1132 and DMR-003 confirm this working die. The variation in doubling strength between the two affected text areas is diagnostically significant: medium spread on OF AMERICA indicates clearly discernible secondary images on those letters, while light spread on UNUM shows subtler displacement requiring more careful magnification to detect. This intensity gradient suggests the hub misalignment direction produced its strongest visible effect on the portion of the reverse arc containing OF AMERICA, with diminishing displacement as the distance or angle from the primary misalignment axis increased toward UNUM's position. On Felix Schlag's Monticello reverse, these inscriptions curve above the building at slightly different elevations and positions along the die face. The 1962-D was struck at the Denver Mint in standard copper-nickel composition (75% copper, 25% nickel), with the small D mintmark to the right of Monticello. Collectors should begin examination at OF AMERICA where the medium spread is more readily apparent, then confirm the lighter doubling on UNUM.
