Description

Presenting a close counterclockwise spread from a pivot point at approximately 11:00, the 1961 Proof Lincoln Memorial Cent WDDR-011 affects UNITED, ONE CENT, the designer's initials FG, and AMERICA — a distribution that spans nearly the full range of reverse inscriptions. The Class V rotated hub doubling responsible for this variety placed its pivot near the upper right of the die face, meaning that design elements on the lower and left portions of the reverse — farther from the fulcrum — received the greatest displacement. This explains why the spread is detectable across four separate inscription groups, as the rotational arc swept across a wide swath of the reverse design. No significant obverse die markers have been recorded, but the reverse carries a small die gouge to the right of the second A in AMERICA, providing an authentication diagnostic independent of the doubling pattern.
