Description
The 1961 (D) Franklin Half Dollar is a half dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series. The U.S. Mint produced 20.3 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 71% of production. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. Continued three-mint production in the series' final years. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $37 to $146 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6681.
