Description

A proof-only Roosevelt Dime variety, the 1959 DDR-003 delivers medium spread across all outer rim lettering, with the strongest extra thickness concentrated on AMERICA, UNUM, and the right leaves of the torch's olive branch. VarietyVista catalogs this as UVC-321 with DMR-008. Die state progression reveals an unusual pattern: Stage A and B represent early and mid-die state respectively, while Stage C shows a die chip developing on the bottom of the torch at late die state — but paired with an obverse still in early die state. This obverse-reverse die state mismatch suggests the late-stage reverse die was married with a fresh obverse die partway through its production run, an uncommon but documented occurrence in proof die management. The breadth of the doubling across the full rim inscription, combined with stronger expression on AMERICA and UNUM, makes this one of the more visually impactful proof Roosevelt Dime doubled die reverses from the 1950s.
