Description
Produced at the Denver Mint, the 1959 (D) Franklin Half Dollar is part of the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series. With a mintage of 13.1 million, this is a less common issue — the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 68% of production. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $37 to $114 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6677.
