Description

Detailed obverse die markers set WDDR-019 apart within the crowded field of 1957 Lincoln Wheat Cent doubled die reverses: a die scratch runs SW/NE to the right of the N in IN, and a short die gouge extends SW from the bottom right of the W in WE. On the reverse, a die scratch runs NNW/SSE between the upper E and N in CENT, providing a secondary confirmation point. The doubling itself manifests as extra thickness and a spread towards the center on both wheat ears and stems, with additional extra thickness visible on E PLURIBUS UNUM and the separator dots — a centripetal spread pattern consistent with Class IV Offset Hub Doubling. The 1957 date represents one of the final years of the Wheat Cent design before the Lincoln Memorial reverse replaced it in 1959 to commemorate the sesquicentennial of Lincoln's birth.
