Cataloged by VarietyVista as VDDR-011, this 1955 Lincoln Wheat Cent exhibits light spread and extra thickness on E PLURIBUS UNUM along with the upper wheat ears and stems on the reverse — a subtle doubled die reverse where the secondary hub impression created additional metal displacement that thickened the affected design elements rather than producing a clearly separated secondary image. Three documented die stages track this die\'s history: Stage A in early die state showing a die clash through the lower N of CENT, die scratches running north-south on the reverse, and a die clash at the throat on the obverse — evidence that this die pair experienced at least one clash event early in its service life. Stage B is recorded at mid-die state (unconfirmed), and Stage C at late die state (unconfirmed). Commentary notes that this die shares the same obverse as VDDR-052 in a slightly later die state but without the reverse die crack, establishing a die linkage between two cataloged varieties.
