Description
The 1953 Roosevelt Dime is a dime produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Roosevelt Silver Dimes 1946-1964 series. The U.S. Mint produced 53.5 million examples, making this ranked 2nd of 3 mint variants by mintage, with 23% of production. The obverse features Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left, honoring the president who championed the March of Dimes and the reverse displays a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $7 to $15 depending on grade and condition.
