Description

The 1951 Roosevelt Dime is a dime produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Roosevelt Silver Dimes 1946-1964 series. The U.S. Mint produced 103.9 million examples, making this the highest mintage among 3 variants, accounting for 54% of the year's production. The obverse features Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left, honoring the president who championed the March of Dimes and the reverse displays a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $7 to $17 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 2.5 grams, 17.9 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #5097.
