1946-D Doubled Die Reverse DDR-004

Description

Documented by VarietyVista, this 1946-D Lincoln Wheat Cent DDR-004 exhibits medium hub doubling spread on the left wheat lines, grains, and stem on the reverse. The medium spread provides clearly visible secondary impressions under moderate magnification, concentrated on the agricultural design elements that frame the left side of the ONE CENT denomination. Die progression is tracked under UVC-1731 and DMR-027: Stage A is unconfirmed at EDS, Stage B shows both reverse and obverse at mid-die state (MDS), and Stage C is unconfirmed at LDS. The confirmed MDS at Stage B establishes the middle service period for this die pair. The 1946-D was the first full postwar production year at Denver, as wartime restrictions on materials and production priorities gave way to normal coinage operations. Collectors should examine the left wheat stalk for doubled lines, grains, and stem detail.
