Attributed by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-1503 and DMR-013, the 1941-D DDR-001 Lincoln Wheat Cent holds the primary doubled die reverse catalog position for this date-mint combination. The variety exhibits light spread with extra thickness on E PLURIBUS UNUM, the NE of ONE, and the upper wheat ears — covering the reverse motto, a portion of the denomination, and the decorative grain elements. The partial-word doubling on ONE — where only the NE shows detectable spread while the O remains unaffected — provides a precise diagnostic checkpoint, as the transition from undetectable to detectable doubling occurs at a specific position within the word. Three die stages document progressive deterioration: Stage A is early die state (unconfirmed); Stage B is mid-die state (unconfirmed); Stage C shows late die state with the reverse in LDS condition and a light die crack over the V.D.B. designer's initials on the obverse.
