The 1939 Jefferson Nickel exists with two distinct reverse hub types — the original 1938 design hub (RDV-001, known as "Wavy Steps" for its rendering of Monticello's front steps) and the revised hub phased in during 1939 production. This DDR-015 uses the earlier Reverse of 1938, making it a doubled die on a transitional variety.
