Description

DDR-004 on the 1936 Lincoln Wheat Cent is a VarietyVista-cataloged doubled die reverse, cataloged UVC-1351 and DMR-018. The primary doubling appears as a medium spread on UNUM and outside right wheat with light extra thickness on E PLURIBUS and the dots — a classic wheat cent reverse doubling pattern centered on the lettering and grain elements. Three die stages document the variety's progression. Stage A (MDS) carries circular die scratches around the reverse perimeter and a die gouge dot below the R of AMERICA. Stage B (MDS) continues the mid-die-state condition. Stage C (LDS) is unconfirmed pending additional specimens. The 1936 Lincoln Wheat Cent was struck at Philadelphia without a mintmark.
