Description
Part of the Philippines Five Centavos 1903-1945 series, the 1934-M Philippine Five Centavos is a five centavos coin from the Manila Mint. The obverse features a male figure seated beside a hammer and anvil and the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Struck during the Great Depression, when mintages dropped sharply and the United States abandoned the gold standard in 1933. Auction record: $840 MS65 04-26-2020 Heritage Auctions. Struck in silver, weighing 3.6 grams, 24 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #90209.
