Description

Fourth DDR for the 1930 Buffalo Nickel, extending the documented hub doubling inventory for one of American coinage's most artistically acclaimed designs. Fraser's bison reverse — deeply sculpted musculature and fur detail on the Type 2 recessed ground plane in use since mid-1913 — provides ample canvas for revealing displacement. Philadelphia struck about 22.8 million Buffalo Nickels in 1930, a Depression-era figure below pre-crash levels. No cross-references beyond the Wexler system are known. Attributed under Wexler Variety ID: 1930 5¢ WDDR-004.
