The 1925 (S) St. Gaudens Double Eagle, struck at the San Francisco Mint, is part of the St. Gaudens Double Eagles 1907-1933 collection. The U.S. Mint produced 3.8 million examples, making this the highest mintage among 3 variants, accounting for 40% of the year's production. The obverse features Liberty striding forward holding a torch and olive branch, with rays of sunlight behind her — widely considered the most beautiful U.S. coin design and the reverse displays a flying eagle with the rising sun behind it. Minted during and after World War I, as America emerged as a global power and experienced the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties. Coined at the San Francisco Mint, which transitioned from Gold Rush-era production to its modern role producing proof and collector issues.
