Description

Bearing the primary DDR-001 designation for the 1924 San Francisco Mint Lincoln wheat cent, this variety displays medium extra thickness on E PLURIBUS UNUM, the separator dots, both wheat stalks and stems, upper letters of ONE, and lower letters of AMERICA. The breadth of affected elements indicates substantial hub displacement across the wheat ear design. Cataloged by VarietyVista as UVC-1276 and DMR-004, three die stages reveal an unusual pairing dynamic. Stage A shows the reverse at early die state while the obverse is already at late die state, a noteworthy combination suggesting this fresh reverse die was paired with a heavily worn obverse die partway through the production run.
