Description
Produced at the Denver Mint, the 1924 (D) Standing Liberty Quarter is part of the Standing Liberty Quarters 1916-1930 series. With a mintage of 3.1 million, this is a less common issue — ranked 2nd of 3 mint variants by mintage, with 18% of production. The obverse features Liberty standing in a gateway between two walls, holding an olive branch and a shield and the reverse displays an eagle in flight. Minted during and after World War I, as America emerged as a global power and experienced the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $61 to $449 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 6.3 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
