The 1914 Indian Head Quarter Eagle is a United States Gold Quarter Eagle from the Indian Head Quarter Eagles 1908-1929 series — 7th of 13 years in the series. In 1914, coins were struck at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints with a combined mintage of 688,117. This ranks 11th of 13 years by total mintage, above the series median of 565,057. The obverse features a Native American chief wearing a feathered headdress, designed in incuse (sunken) relief — a revolutionary departure from traditional raised relief coinage and the reverse displays a standing eagle on a bundle of arrows with an olive branch. The 1914-D is a better date from the Denver Mint. Philadelphia also struck quarter eagles. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 4.18 grams, 18 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Across its variants, estimated values range from $866 to $18K depending on mint mark, grade, and strike type. A notable auction result reached $138K in PR67+ grade at Heritage Auctions.
