Part of the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series, the 1914 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent is a cent from the Denver Mint. With a mintage of 1.2 million, this is a scarce issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 1% of total production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right, the first real person depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays two wheat stalks framing ONE CENT, symbolizing American agriculture. The 1914-D with a mintage of 1,193,000 is a key date — one of the most valuable Lincoln Wheat Cents. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906.
