Description
The 1914 (D) Indian Head Eagle represents a Denver Mint issue from the Indian Head Eagles 1907-1933 series. With a mintage of 343,500, this is a less common issue — the highest mintage among 3 variants, accounting for 49% of the year's production. The obverse features a Native American wearing a feathered war bonnet, facing left and the reverse displays a standing eagle with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST. Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco production. The 1914-D is a common Denver issue. The Denver Mint, which grew from an 1860s gold rush assay office, has served as a major production facility since 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $2.6K to $3.1K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 16.7 grams, 26.8 mm in diameter, with a raised stars edge.
