Description
A cent from the Denver Mint, the 1913 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent belongs to the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. With a mintage of 15.8 million, this is a less common issue — ranked 2nd of 3 mint variants by mintage, with 16% of production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right, the first real person depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays two wheat stalks framing ONE CENT, symbolizing American agriculture. Produced during the Progressive Era, when President Theodore Roosevelt championed a renaissance in American coin design that produced some of the most beautiful coins ever struck. The Denver Mint, which grew from an 1860s gold rush assay office, has served as a major production facility since 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $4 to $281 depending on grade and condition.
