Description
A Gold Eagle from the San Francisco Mint, the 1912 (S) Indian Head Eagle belongs to the Indian Head Eagles 1907-1933 series. With a mintage of 300,000, this is a less common issue — the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features a Native American wearing a feathered war bonnet, facing left and the reverse displays a standing eagle with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST. Philadelphia and San Francisco production. The 1912-S is a notable San Francisco issue. Coined at the San Francisco Mint, which transitioned from Gold Rush-era production to its modern role producing proof and collector issues.
