About This Coin
The 1908 Philippine Fifty Centavos is a United States cent from the Philippines Fifty Centavos 1903-1945 series — 6th of 15 years in the series. In 1908, coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint with a combined mintage of 1.6 million. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil, similar to but larger than the twenty centavos and the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Produced during the Progressive Era, when President Theodore Roosevelt championed a renaissance in American coin design that produced some of the most beautiful coins ever struck. A notable auction result reached $7.2K in MS65 � grade. Designed by Melecio Figueroa.
