Description

Part of the Philippines Peso 1903-1945 series, the 1907 (S) Philippine Peso is a peso coin from the San Francisco Mint. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil, holding a hammer and the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Produced during the Progressive Era, when President Theodore Roosevelt championed a renaissance in American coin design that produced some of the most beautiful coins ever struck. San Francisco's storied mint, born of the California Gold Rush, has evolved into the primary producer of U.S. proof coins. Auction record: $31,200 MS67 01-16-2022 Heritage Auctions. Struck in silver, weighing 20 grams, 38 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #90393.
