Description
Opening the seventh design group, J-912 combines the inscribed-diadem Liberty Head obverse from the fourth group with the regular-issue With Motto eagle reverse. Where J-894 through J-899 paired this obverse with the STANDARD wreath reverse, J-912 through J-917 substitute the familiar eagle, creating a second set of hybrid die marriages that test the classically styled portrait against the established reverse. Struck in silver with a reeded edge, this configuration would have appeared the most natural as a potential production coin, requiring only the obverse die change to implement. Cataloged as PCGS #61156.
