Description
Part of the Classic Head Half Cents 1809-1836 series, the 1833 Classic Head Half Cent is a cent from the Philadelphia Mint. With a mintage of 120,000, this is a less common issue — the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 100% of production. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a fillet or headband inscribed LIBERTY and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing HALF CENT. Modest production at Philadelphia. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $100 to $313 depending on grade and condition. Struck in copper, weighing 5.44 grams, 23.5 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1162.
