The 1819 Matron Head Coronet Head Cent - 9/8 is a cent minted at the Philadelphia Mint, within the Matron Head Coronet Head Cents 1816-1835 series. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a hair ribbon inscribed LIBERTY, with a coronet of stars around her head and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT. Large Date and Small Date varieties. The 1819/8 overdate is a collected variety. The Philadelphia Mint, America's oldest coin-making facility, has struck coins continuously since 1792.
