Description
The 1811 Classic Head Cent - 1/0, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, is part of the Classic Head Cents 1808-1814 collection. With a mintage of 218,025, this is an extremely rare issue — the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a fillet or headband inscribed LIBERTY and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT. The 1811/0 overdate is notable. Low mintage makes the 1811 a semi-key date. The Philadelphia Mint, America's oldest coin-making facility, has struck coins continuously since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $407 to $10K depending on grade and condition. Struck in copper, weighing 10.89 grams, 28 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1558.
