Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1808 Large Draped Bust to Left Quarter Eagle is part of the Large Draped Bust to Left Quarter Eagles 1808 series. With a mintage of 2,710, this is a rare issue. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a mob cap or turban with a draped bust and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. Produced during the earliest years of the United States Mint, when the young republic was establishing its monetary system and coinage traditions. Estimated market value ranges from $50K to $3101K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 91.7% gold, 8.3% copper, weighing 4.37 grams, 20 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
