In 1807, coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a combined mintage of 51,605. This represents the second-lowest annual mintage in the series, below the series median of 84,622. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a mob cap or turban with a larger, draped bust and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. First year of the Capped Bust Left design by John Reich, replacing Robert Scot's Capped Bust Right type. Struck in 91.7% gold, 8.3% copper, weighing 8.75 grams, 25 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
