Description

The 1795 Talbot Allum & Lee - Lettered Edge Proof Cent is a proof cent from the Post-1776 Private and Regional Issues (1778-1820) series. Produced during the earliest years of the United States Mint, when the young republic was establishing its monetary system and coinage traditions. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Struck in copper, weighing 10.5 grams, 29 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge.
