Description
A cent from the Philadelphia Mint, the 1795 Liberty Cap Right Half Cent - Lettered Edge belongs to the Liberty Cap Right Half Cents 1794-1797 series. The U.S. Mint produced 139,690 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 4 mint variants, representing only 25% of total production. The obverse features Liberty facing right with a Phrygian cap on a pole behind her head and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing HALF CENT and 1/200. Multiple die varieties including the Lettered Edge, Plain Edge, and Punctuated Date types. One of the more available dates. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $666 to $11K depending on grade and condition. Struck in copper, weighing 6.74 grams, 23.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered: two hundred for a dollar edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1009.
