Description
Betts-421 in gold (AV) is the most precious version of the Quebec Taken medal, representing the highest level of commemoration for the battle that decided the fate of North America. Gold strikings of the Quebec medal would have been presentation pieces for royalty, the Prime Minister, or the highest-ranking military and naval commanders. The capture of Quebec on September 13, 1759, was celebrated throughout the British Empire as one of the greatest military achievements in the nation's history, made all the more poignant by the death of General Wolfe at the moment of victory. The gold medal represents the nation's supreme tribute to the significance of this event. Gold examples of Betts-421 are extraordinarily rare, as only a handful would have been struck for the most important recipients. This medal stands among the most valuable and historically significant items in the entire Betts catalog.
Rarity Notes
Gold (AV) striking, extremely rare. Among the most valuable colonial medals. Presentation quality for the highest officials.
